The Mandrake was delighted to welcome Peter-John de Villiers, a South African creative talent to demonstrate his unique skills at the hotel.
The internationally acclaimed artist, currently based in Norway, invited guests to observe the creation of Mandragora. His second original mural for the hotel, which was a companion piece to his artwork, Mandrake, which is displayed in The Mandrake’s event space.
Wanting guests to be more than mere bystanders, Peter-John asked them to make ‘objective interventions’ into his creative work by bringing along an object of their choice which he then painted and returned to them. This could have been an item of clothing, instrument, a suitcase or whatever the guest felt inspired to give him.
